Brae is the main population centre in the north mainland of Shetland and serves the needs of the oil and gas industries and associated services, with the Total Gas Plant, Sullom Voe Oil Terminal and Scatsta Airport, as well as a range of related businesses, situated some 7 miles from Brae.
