Buying a Property 

I provide advice to and act on behalf of parties interested in purchasing a house in Scotland.  For more details please see my short guide to the process of purchasing a house in Scotland.

Selling a Property

I provide both estate agency and purely legal services in relation to the sale of property in Scotland, depending on the clients needs with respect to marketing a property for sale. 

My estate agency services include preparation of a property schedule, advertising in my property windows both at the North Ness Business Park and in Commercial Street in Lerwick and on this website, together with accompanied viewings if required.

Residential Leasing

I provide legal services relating to residential leasing, including the drawing up of Short-Assured Tenancies for periods exceeding six months.  I do not currently offer a service for managing rental accommodation. 

Making Wills And Powers of Attorney 

I provide advice on and prepare Wills; however I am not able to give advice on any aspects of Capital Gains Tax or Inheritance Tax.  I can refer clients to a specialist practitioner to assist them with advice on these matters.

When making a Will with this Firm clients may elect to make a donation to a charity of their choosing rather than pay a fee.

Executries 

I can advise and assist with the winding up of executry estates (ie dealing with the money and other assets of someone who has died).  There are different procedures to be followed depending on whether the deceased person made a Will or not. 

Crofting Law 

I provide advice on general matters relating to the law of crofting.
